Ballet Variations Workshop Sugar Plum Fairy (Part 1)
Ballet Variations Workshop Sugar Plum Fairy (Part 1)
Class Description
This workshop will focus on "Sugar Plum Fairy" from The Nutcracker. This workshop will be given in two parts. Feedback from students after the summer workshops suggested that "sleeping on it" would help the choreography to be absorbed into the body. Once the dancers are more comfortable and confident with the choreography, they can work on their expression and quality of movement. While dancers are encouraged to attend both weeks in order to learn the cohesive whole, dancers who can attend only one workshop will be able to jump in to learn the choreography for that day as two sets of choreography will be clearly delineated by week (and workshop #2 will start with a refresher of what was learned week #1). Previous ballet experience is recommended. This is intended for beginner level dancers. There will be an opportunity to perform this variation as a group for our Rebelle Winter Student Showcase, Sat Dec 12. Our Ballet Variations Workshop teaches specific solo roles from classical repertoire, focusing on mastering choreography, artistic expression, and performance quality. These workshops involve adapting famous, technically demanding solos from various famous ballets to suit a dancer's level, focusing on artistry and characterization.
